Sociological cohorts has never bothered me and I don't think I have ever been labelled as such. But Gen X is a (constructed) thing and I hail from the very beginning of that era, in 1965. However, the further I get from 1965 the more useful Gen X is as a descriptor, especially when dealing with so-called* 'social experts' who can't imagine that far back in terms of living people. Obviously, they know more about Gen X etc than those of us who were there! So I'm Gen X, not a number, apparently. I have no idea if this term exists, but it should.
