My Jaycar multimeter that I only bought 20 years ago (/s) has developed LCD cancer. I used it fairly recently and it was fine then. It had a good run, and probably only used two or three 9V batteries in that time.

    @wezm might be able to replace the LCD with something new. They're pretty inexpensive

    @wezm I love how long these things can last. My multimeter is 30 years young, it started giving weird readings and I got worried. Then remebered you can change the battery, so I did that and now it's happy

  • @wezm I just replaced both of mine too. A “regular” one like that and a folding pocket one I keep in my RC toolbox. They had a 30 year run and died at basically the same time. O_o Ironically when the first one didn’t work I went and grabbed the other to try and troubleshoot it. (Sad trombone)
