@cos @atoponce Damn, I was hoping this post meant I had missed the opening of the project. It's been "coming soon" for a while now. I hope the creators are just working on making it real and haven't abandoned it.

@cos Well it's nice, but the main part that will fail, the print head, kinda is under the control of a single company. Considering that any decent commercial printer will last for decades, is fairly well repairable with basic tools like sand paper, there is less of an urgency in that area. I mean unlike mobile phones, printers kinda are enshittification free. (unless you expect to buy a <200 colour printer)

@cos I just realized that I found this back in July of 2025 and thus far there is no public updates regarding this project. It would be nice to see a laser rather than InkJet, but it would be wonderful to see this become available as printers are typically not an open hardware design.

@cos I went to staples yesterday to throw a couple of years worth of dead batteries in their e waste bins and decided "while I'm here, I should get some more ink for the printer, it's been running low" $120 for the set. Noped right out of there and to some website that sells bootleg cartridges they probably refilled with a syringe.
