Madrid’s residents raise their voices against mega-concerts.
Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny held a residency from late May to mid-June at a stadium in the Spanish capital.
The concerts were not to the liking of local residents. Fed up with the noise, many people in Madrid are complaining about the transformation of their city, as local authorities have made large-scale events a driver of economic growth.

@mf_analysis@mastodon.mediafaro.org For residents in Madrid, the trade-off between event revenue and quality of life is a hard one. I deal with similar tensions in Tbilisi where new concert venues and festivals boost short-term rental demand but push locals out of central neighborhoods. What the article leaves out is how mega-concerts often inflate hotel and apartment prices during peak season, making housing even less affordable for the people who actually live there.
