It is the fifth birthday of our diabolical cat, Kuro Kageneko. He is always first to rush in where angels fear to tread. A holy terror to his sister Saxa and a cringing pugilist with his alpha uncle Raylan, he nurses an adolescent crush on his aunt Sjöfn, a dog who could eat him as a canapé. Standoffish with most people except when there’s food in the offing, he abases himself before his master Steve with a zeal that inevitably ends with him inverted on Daddy’s lap like a nursing infant.
