@hellocatfood I have a piece of plastic drainpipe rigged up in the ceiling of my studio, which holds my mobile phone. Can slide it around to the right position. (Will try and get a photo for you as it's a bit hard to explain)

@hellocatfood If you want to hold a DSLR or similar you’ll probably need a boom. Try searching “Tripod Horizontal Extension Boom” or similar. Can range from cheap crap to scary expensive! Here’s an example: https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71ubj82sxRL._AC_SL1500_.jpg

@hellocatfood@post.lurk.org this, about a decade ago, I did with a large Manfrotto 458B tripod with which could remove the riser from and mount it across, so parallel to the table. (That particular tripod longer exists, it pinched my hand very painfully). https://youtu.be/xDoPnpz6-7o This one, about five years ago, I used what I now have, a Manfrotto 190 (one of which I used to have back in the 90s) and I also have a Manfrotto crossbar mount from back in the 1980s, which allows me to get overhead quite sturdily. https://youtu.be/pj6HT0maVW4 This one, even more recently, I didn’t have the space on the desk or floor in this particular room to set up the Manfrotto tripod (which needs quite a big spread of area for the legs) so I embarrassingly used a microphone boom stand! The camera for this was tiny, a Raspberry Pi 3A+ with Raspberry Pi High Quality camera and a Pentax C-mount lens, all of which was quite light so the mic boom didn’t sag (much). https://www.youtube.com/live/DSIdA7dilnk Now I don’t have the space available to live stream at all so I stopped it, but when I get going again I want to have some sort of overhead arrangement that doesn’t take up a large base area on the floor, and I don’t have a solution for that as yet.
