Ex: The retirement home NP checked us, and said, "Since you're not producing yellow-green mucous, you don't have an infection so don't worry about it. Continue with your routine" Meanwhile I'm thinking, " hmmm.., only a couple weeks ago, I was told the same and it quickly turned into pneumonia. I feel awful, again, and don't want to spread this to others" Later I go to the charge nurse, who said, "No fever? You are cleared to leave your room and eat your meals in the dining room" 🤔 (beneath my n95, I'm thinking, "I'm not comfortable with this") BUT, then going to the director of the home, a nurse, and saying, "We might have a simple cold, or something else, and I'm worried about leaving our room due to the older folk who are more medically fragile and perhaps on oxygen. What are we supposed to do?" She said, " When you're ill then isolate. We can't get testing supplies" With conflicting messaging from medical professionals, the news, improper info from politicians who cut off testing, I am astonished anyone would want to remain in the healthcare profession. You all must be worn out, discouraged, frustrated, from the lack of support, and sometimes feeling helpless...? 😞
