Today is trans day of visibility and since many trans people in the current times may prefer to be not visible, I would like to say that that's a bullshit state of affairs. The assault on trans rights happening in many western countries (not to discount rampant repression and state violence occurring against sexual and gender minorities in other countries in regions like Africa and South-East Asia) is not just bullshit, it's a heinous evil perpetrated by groups that want nothing short of genocidal fascism, and have chosen trans people to be the most convenient scapegoat. Trans people are real, trans children and youth are real, they deserve full human rights including legal ID if they so choose and medical support based on informed consent and nothing less. They deserve full participation in public life and they do not owe any specific performance of gender expression to anyone.
