The past week I dove back head-first into playing around with microelectronics, flooded by memories as I dig up old components and #esp32 boards that used to power my basil garden, filling a dark and isolated home with hope for the future, and an ungodly purple glow (the one in my avatar). Back then I was on a multi-year sabbatical, after being fired for standing up for my values, finally finding purpose and a lot of joy in learning, building, playing and slowly becoming a maker and a developer - one of the best years of my life. Now, on the 3rd month of a burnout leave, slowing down and looking back on the past decade spent as a dev since then, I see the same passion and driving forces living on in me, while I let my energy and sense of agency be completely drained by corporate dynamics and other life events. Then last week I met a friend in a local cafe, and just as we parted ways, he turned back and asked if I knew anything about #reticulum. I did not, so he shared all that he's heard about it so far and his geniune enthusiasm combined with how amazing #reticulum 's potential is, has instantly re-igntied the passion in me for learning, experimenting and building. So I've been inhaling videos, data sheets, and blog posts on everything that is remotely related, some days disappearing in rabbitholes until happily passing out at 5am. The resiliency promised by #reticulum, especially adding #lora -based meshes to the mix makes it fit perfectly into my interests in social empowerment, privacy and secuirty, and is a lot of fun so far. It seems that I'll need to order new dev boards as well as radio components and it's exciting to see where it takes me and looking forward to all the new likeminded people to connect with.
