Firefox is adding a feature you'll actually want to use: Split View. It lets you see two websites side-by-side in a single tab. It's still a WIP, but if you run Firefox 146 you can try it out. https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2025/12/enable-firefox-split-view-feature?v1 #Firefox #Mozilla #OpenSource

@omgubuntu@floss.social they have added plenty lately, like translations, the new side bar, side tabs, tab groups, easier profile switching... Let's not exagerate on how bad they are...

@omgubuntu@floss.social I have been testing this in Nightly (where it is available without about:config) and I really like it. It certainly helps me to help users of Firefox on our support forum where I can have a user question open in one tab with reference material open on another (and a list of questions to work on open in the sidebar).

@omgubuntu@floss.social mmm... one can say what he wants about Firefox ULEA drifting but pace of changes has greatly improved on the other hand. I really hope Mozilla can find an equilibrium. 🙏

@mmu_man@m.g3l.org Ça existe déjà dans Zen browser. C'est pas mal pour certaines utilisations. @omgubuntu@floss.social

  • @mmu_man@m.g3l.org @omgubuntu@floss.social that was the question people asked when tabs were introduced, too. Turns out that was pretty useful as well.

@omgubuntu@floss.social Does it also have a 'turn off CSS gutters that are filled with fixed width spam that will make this feature basically useless without an 8K display' or no?

@omgubuntu@floss.social It’s great to see some efforts to prioritize users in terms of user experience, but it’s so little and so late and there’s Zen, as mentioned. Why would I settle for Firefox when Mozilla seems determined to further enshittify it with crappy integration with corporate ai? If they would focus on local ai, Ollama cloud etc I would understand but I don’t need to have Google, meta or Anthropic shoved down my throat, users need to be shielded from that with sane non fascist alternatives and refocus on user experience.

@omgubuntu@floss.social I tried the Chrome version (which's also new) and I like the drag and drop feature to split the tabs.
