For real. I always felt the whole skin market was a crazy thing, even though i bought and traded a few skins back in the day I never understood how a bunch of pixels that we don't actually own could get any real value.

I think people become attached to things for a variety of reasons: their value, the idea of having the best, showing off their status, or simply falling in love with them. And this desire to have something, together with other people, can end up creating a market around it. I think the only problem with that, as you yourself mentioned, is that it doesn't really belong to them. If they are banned from the game, their skins worth over 10,000 of some currency will also be gone.
