Reminder: "This is a bubble" and "This has no practical applications" are two very different statements.

@j_bertolotti There's also another (likely and common) POV which is "This has uses, but is not cost-effective / economically viable." We see technologies like this all the time (my favorite analogy: supersonic passenger planes). I'm very depressed by the complete unwillingness of people to approach ML techologies in rational terms. Everyone is either "All in, we're firing everyone and replacing them with robots" or "ML is going to eat your babies and shoot your dog."

@j_bertolotti But they are related, no? A bubble means inflated asset prices (monetary value), caused by over-estimating asset values (usefulness), and assuming significant scarcity, relative to (future) demand. When the demand collapses, or fails to materialize; or if the asset ends up not being scarce; then the price collapses, and the bubble with it.

@j_bertolotti We know, but this situation is where there are a few niche situations were it can really help. But on the other side there are assholes trying to make money shoving down everyones throats. (So many of them) Been there with IOT, been there with crypto, been there too many times. Get the suits out of the way and make the good tech, then we can talk about the rest
