I often forget how responsive Windows 7 was. I have been using an old machine that's been unplugged from the internet for close to a decade running it, and it's pretty fucking snappy

@chickfilla@tilde.zone A few months ago I installed Windows 8 on a spinning rust i5-6500 system. Needed to do a specific firmware task and this was the path of least resistance Oh good lord, it's actually really OK to use. What is unbearable in Win 10/11 is absolutely "fine" in Win8.
