In some extents, yes. I get what you’re saying, but I do believe the ability to recognize and reflect om your country’s dark spots (past and present) and recognize the rise of an authoritarian regime are universally lessons. To clarify, I’m not opposed to fitting some YA literature as well into that too. I was introduced to Pendragon through 9th grade English, and ended up reading the entire series by myself afterwards.
