Way back in the day (mid-to-late-'90s), when I was a teen running a small dial-up BBS and a lot of my friends were from that world, we would often call ourselves - I kid you not - "modemers.” We didn't typically use it as a verb, but I wouldn't be surprised if some people did. https://mastodon.social/@marioguzman/116282628047037472
