For the next four years every time you go to make a purchase take a moment to consider who you're giving money to. Is getting that prime delivery really worth increasing the net worth of Bezos? Is clicking on that Instagram video/Facebook link worth increasing the net worth of Zuckerberg? Is buying that luxury item new worth adding anything positive to Trump’s economy or can it wait four years or be purchased second hand? I don't want to do anything to benefit the people destroying the world if I can help it.

@talia_christine@beige.party Brava. I hope you don't mind; I've shared your comments - with which I wholeheartedly agree - elsewhere, in the hope that the amount of money sucked vampire-like from the world's economies by these leeches is reduced, if only by a little.

@talia_christine@beige.party I've opted out of most things I can realistically opt out of. I've probably made under 10 online purchases in the last year. I still have some personal growth to do when it comes to DoorDash, however 😔

@talia_christine@beige.party Also too: Gmail. Don't use it. It steals your soul.

@talia_christine@beige.party I won’t buy online. I am breaking the habit. I am done giving these psychos my money.

  • @talia_christine@beige.party Yep, I am on a permanent #SpendingStrike where I either avoid (don't spend at all), redirect (spend local, secondhand, small business, etc) or postpone (make things last longer through mending, scraping out containers, etc) as much spending as possible. I love it because in addition to keeping my $$$ away from the worst people, it benefits me and others right now, as well building skills and habits for a future of greater precarity.

  • @talia_christine@beige.party I'm glad that Nike has been ok. Don't want to give up the shoes I like, but I would. https://popular.info/p/10-corporations-that-kept-their-promises

@talia_christine@beige.party I think you're right on. Been trying to do that and convince others as well, but that staples button makes it all so "easy"
