I understand that things are, to put it mildly, challenging for a lot of people right now. If you're not in a position to send money, but you'd like to in other ways, here are some things that would be helpful: - If you know anyone who could use math or computer science tutoring, that is something I have a great deal of experience offering. Current rate is $97/hr, but I can work with other budgets. - If you know any church community or spiritual community that is looking for guest preachers, that is also something I can offer. - If you know anyone who is in need of guidance and support in life transitions, or looking for greater clarity in their vocation or other aspects of their life, I am available for free strategy sessions, and I offer free workshops that can help get organized and clear about how you can achieve your goals. - If you know any schools or organizations that might be looking for motivational/inspirational speakers, let me know. Also, it would be awesome to connect with more people in the Pittsburgh area. I'm always looking for more networking events and whatnot, but the social fatigue has been real of late. Thanks everyone for boosting and donating. I don't like to catastrophize our situation, there's enough of that happening beyond my own circumstances, and urgency and panic usually only create more anxiety. Real talk, I am behind on some payments. I am concerned about making ends meet. I am considering the real possibility that I may have to shutter my business and get a "real job" and I'm not sure what my prospects are at this stage, but I still feel like this is something I need to do, so I'm holding off until I'm absolutely certain I've no other options. My point is, We could really use help. Either clients or donations. Ideally, clients. I know this will pass. I know I will find the people I'm being called to serve. Still at $150/$5000 I'm slowly getting caught up, attempting to keep food on the table and the lights on while burning through what we have. I've decided if I do not get a client by the end of the month, I'm shuttering the business, canceling my coworking membership, and looking for a job. I hate that it's come to this, but I don't know what else to do at this point.

I need to take the next month to regroup and figure out what the fuck my next steps are. I'm going to try to keep the business checking account and insurance policy for one more month just in case a miracle happens and someone actually wants to hire me out of the blue. Still at $1218/$5000 I've been using the past week to slow down on the business and try to figure out what exactly I'm doing. I know I need to figure out, if not a different approach to this business thing, something else to do so I'm actually contributing to the world somehow and applying my talents and abilities to do something of value and supporting myself. I've been wanting to say something about what's happening in the country and world right now, and a sort-of commentary on the field of personal and professional self-development. Maybe a series of video essays. I've been meaning to do something like that for a while. I need to stop talking about what I've been meaning to do and do it. Fortunately, I've got that hacker mindset, so I'm approaching this current challenge I'm facing with a certain curiosity and playfulness. Please help if you can.

Still at $1218/$5000. Also worth noting that my wife's commission form got an anonymous submission telling her to get a job. The commission form that she uses to sell her work, and that people use to hire her to write. You know, her job? Because the only legitimate work is when you're working for someone else. People do the same thing to all sorts of creators, artists, writers, youtubers, tiktokers, etc. It goes with the territory, but it's fucking stupid when it happens on a platform like this. Take it to Xitter or Facebook where the creators can call you out and exploit ragebait for the algorithm, which is what creators seem to have to do now to keep the engagement on their posts up. Anyways, I'm preaching Sunday, and I've been taking the time to find some clarity regarding next steps with my own work. I'll update on that soon, because something has to change, and now.

$2,238/$8,000 So, I've gone back to contracting for a company that has not treated their contractors (including myself) well in the past. I'm doing this because it's a way of getting quick cash flow. Pay is not good (about 1/4 of what it was when they first lured me into working for them), but they are blowing up my inbox and they pay weekly and they always have something I can do. I could use a real urgent boost right about now. I've been dodging overdraft fees as much as I can, but it's getting difficult. I'm doing what I can where I can when I can. $2618/$8000 Had to borrow more money for legal representation and other bills. Someone for whom I do regular computer support work is on a fixed budget and his rent is going up soon. I agreed he could pay me in food this week. I had a bit of unexpected income of $25 for zoom hosting a meditation group. I'm looking for clients and other work, gig or otherwise. Still hanging in there but this year has been challenging, and it's only March.

Still at $2,618/$8,000. The guy I do tech work for on the regular now paid me in food again. I've been asked to provide transport for a blind parishioner for Good Friday and Easter Sunday, so the church will be compensating me for that, and another guy I help run his weekly meditation group has started compensating me for my help weekly, so I'm expecting another $75 altogether in the next week. I'm also meeting with a guy tomorrow about a startup he has, seems like a promising connection.

$2,643/$8,000 Alright, so, the guy I met with yesterday, I had a great conversation with, but he is still in the early funding stages and looking into accelerator programs. After the experience I had with the startup last year, I appreciate his honesty and transparency. It was a good connection to make, and I hope we can work together in the future. In more exciting news, I'll be having coffee with a reporter on Sunday. But, yeah, still could use some help, or clients, or leads, or something. I will schedule some workshops again soon. I slipped away from doing that because life was happening, and it was discouraging not having people sign up. And I still need to file taxes.
