@geffrey sounds like my "damaged" GSD. Once she takes a long time (days/weeks) settling in she's mostly okay as long as it's just her people in close proximity. Other people set her on edge immediately, and she's nearly always on alert. I was told that she was yanked from her mother far too early and had zero socialization as a puppy. Pretty sure there was also some outright abuse involved. She's much better off than when I first adopted her, though. Best of luck with your boy. 💜
