๐˜‹๐˜ช๐˜ณ๐˜ต๐˜บ ๐˜”๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜ฅ, released in 1980, is *definitely* a product of its time. It's pure Prince funk, but is so heavy on the synths and beats that became ubiquitous in the 80's. Today, it sounds like an artifact. Prince was an early creator of the style, but by the time the decade was over, the public grew tired of it. I'm not even sure it wrapped back around into favor like most musical styles. It feels pop music jumped right over it, skipping any nostalgia for synth-pop and heading elsewhere. (cont)

  • ๐˜‹๐˜ช๐˜ณ๐˜ต๐˜บ ๐˜”๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜ฅ isn't a bad album, it's just not as timeless as others in Prince's catalog.
