Citizens United was a bad decision with harmful effects, but centering it as the key reform is not a serious attempt to meaningfully grapple with the influence of the uberwealthy on our politics and government; it is marketing.

It is just so *small* to sit here in 2026 America in the midst of a full-on fascist regime, our constitution (such as it was) and 250 years of lofty stated values in tatters, and announce at a conference on the future of liberalism that they key is … returning to the campaign finance regime of 2009.
