Don’t expose your real IP, keep a VPN on all the time and not only when you have traffic you want to mask.
NewPipe definitely does play video. I have it installed and it works fine

Yes, I use a VPN for basically everything I do online, but I still don’t want Google to link the IPs I use to the content I’m interested in. And I know NewPipe works with video, I meant I strictly use it for music (behind VPN) and nothing else for the reason above.
