Asking for a friend, what kind of inkjet / laser printer is not anti-consumer ?
They want a the printer to also be a scanner and be able to print with color.

@IndigoPRNG@cathode.church Brother MFC color laser printers are the best. They just work. A bit expensive, but administrating those was so nice when I was doing it at my old school. And the drivers are just available for linux easily. And it's just pain-less printing.

@IndigoPRNG@cathode.church none! They all suck to varying degrees. Canon is the current choice and works on Linux without drivers. HP previously but spare parts are so expensive and pront heads do fail.
