@quixoticgeek@social.v.st @ahltorp@mastodon.nu - I suspect some of us (myself included) could do more, for example those who can afford it making more concrete plans to improve home heating efficiency. If the problem is with governments then there are still individual actions to take - getting more involved in politics, discussing issues with friends and family, for some of us trying to play a part in developing new technologies which could help. In terms of energy converted to useful work, EVs are also much more efficient than internal combustion engines.

@philcowans@universeodon.com @ahltorp@mastodon.nu given how many of us live in rented homes, there's not a lot we can do.

@philcowans@universeodon.com @quixoticgeek@social.v.st What we can do individually is, yes, getting more involved in politics, but more importantly: getting more involved in civil society. EVs unfortunately take up as much space, often wear roads even more, and are at least as dangerous to vulnerable road users as fossil cars, thus contributing to The Traffic Hierarchy (https://planka.nu/vad-tycker-vi/rapporter/the-traffic-hierarchy/). EV transition is necessary, but has to be accompanied by a major reduction of car use in general.
