psa for people hiding things in the pixel data of their avatars:
mastodon always resizes all avatars to exactly 400×400. so if you want it to be visible on mastodon servers, please make sure to make your avatar that size. i know, i know. but that's the way it is

severals does do this, btw, but if you're writing your own thing, it is something to take into account
