Well, since there seems to be a good bit of anti-systemd sentiment out there, here's something to chew on...I successfully used the guide below to install a barebones Debian netinstall, strip out systemd and install openRC as Cybersecguru demonstrates.
I did this on modern hardware: a System76 lemurpro-13 with coreboot dual booting. I currently have kde-plasma-desktop working and full access to Debian apt repos - this was maybe a 5/10 difficulty install. I'll post a writeup on my blog at some point, but check the comments in the page for some details. Probably a few items to tweak still but fully operational. Thanks Cybersecguru!
