We've done several iterations of chicken coops and runs over the years. The current coop and small run are permanently placed (not mobile) but we have 3 larger runs that we rotate the flock through. Their favorite day is the first one after changing runs, like today. This particular run is the favorite of the 3 as it is closer to the direction the humans come from to give treats. #chickens #gardening #homestead

@aosmith16@hachyderm.io Do you house your roosters with your hens? We're keeping our separate right now and were thinking of building a coop just for the boys.

@aosmith16@hachyderm.io I hope you clip their wings so they can't literally fly the coop. I lost a dog after a chicken flew over the fence into my yard and mauled her face. Chickens are a sore subject for me. Sorry for the unsolicited complaint.

  • @tim@holm.community have you thought about going the vegan route with your boosts? I don't get how chickens in cages is either interesting or practical for you - when the most interesting and practical way to see say a chicken is when they're not in one https://hachyderm.io/@aosmith16/116275671792154909 Aren't vegan systems more 'interesting' - because they are more 'practical' and challenging? Just saying - I'd rather see a design of a microalgal vertical farm boosted than this! I say leave the chickens alone and focus on human projects that elevate. Let's see more coding projects boosted for instance! The might of human intellect!
