Why the idea of federation in the IT infra is so hard?
We are constantly jumping between "everyone has their own playground" -> "oh, no, such chaos, let's centralize everything" -> "oh no, so hard to do any change, let's give everyone a sandbox"
Can we finally get the interoperable federated sandboxes which can be governed locally but follow some global protocols to allow the integration between them?

Can we embrace that as a real working approach, not only pass through it temporary on our way to destroy everything again.

And by protocols i do not mean network protocols between services, or activity pub. Protocols means set of rules, agreements, processes and policies, which may be implemented through some different means: docs, linters on ansible playbooks, integration tests, writings on the wall.. whatever.
