When I was five or six years old, my closest friend was an Iranian boy named Kamyar. He and his younger sister Kimya were frequent companions of mine and my sister, until his dad decided to move the family back to #Iran. I never saw them again, but I think of Kamyar often, and I hope he's survived the world our parents and grandparents have helped make.
