@Blouie@poa.st yep i think a variation of dlss that can run off style loras you can drag drop and train yourself would be a fun toy, you could do stuff like training a lora on twilight princess screenshots and run it over ocarina of time emulation to get one that looks like the other, but that's the limit of what it can be: a fun gimmicky toy stripping out human intention for "of average quality" is going to make good products worse and bad products mid, but it'll never be something worthwhile

  • @Blouie@poa.st i've said it before and i'll say it again: there's a thousand genuinely fantastic uses for AI that can massively improve people's lives, but for whatever godforsaken reason EVERY SINGLE COMPANY USES THEM TO MAKE THINGS WORSE seriously, i used AI to read over rpgmaker's source code and quickly track down a the source of performance issues in a lighting plugin, and was able to squeeze out literally over 200x performance with 3 carefully targeted lines of code. now anyone who wants to use terrax lighting can do almost anything they want with it without worrying about framerate issues and can even plug it into other rpgmaker games to improve performance! without AI this would have taken me so long i wouldn't have bothered trying. AI made life better for some people! but these fucking morons are just using this technology to fuck everything up. it's like inventing the steam engine and the only thing people figure out how to do is build steam machines that kick themselves in the nuts faster and harder. no, dipshit, use it to make a pump

  • @All_bonesJones@shitposter.world @Blouie@poa.st pretty much, as usual, most AI stuff is better left as toys
