Finally got some time to look at a misbehaving Nexus 3048TP switch. Turns out, the NVRAM is VRAM in disguise. after some creative iOS commands, I was able to get the bootloader to fully re-init the nvram "filesystem" and now I can store configuration data once again. I am not sure how stable this is going to be, but hey, I'll take it.
