There's something severely broken with the way Ieji processes uploaded video files. I get "422 Error processing thumbnail for uploaded media" most of the time and there does not seem to be any pattern to _why_ it randomly refuses to accept x264 video files made with ffmpeg. Sometimes files files encoded with "-c:v libx264 -preset medium -crf 23" will work, most of the times they won't. Sometimes files uploaded with -vaapi_device /dev/dri/renderD128 -c:v h264_vaapi -qp 24 -vf 'format=nv12,hwupload' but most of the time they don't. Flies rendered by kdenlive seem to be accepted most of the time but they are huge compared to what ffmpeg manages (the difference can be 20 MB or 6 MB). This becomes more frustrating because Ieji seems to have some rate limiting on how fast it wants to send video files when someone wants to play them, and it sends the files much slower than the bitrate of a typical video file so it becomes a stutter-fest if I don't use settings that result in lower filesize/bitrate, and those files result in the "422 Error processing thumbnail for uploaded media" error. There is clearly something broken in the video processing chain because I've done some tests in order to figure out how, concretely, I can encode video files with the same settings and if I encode 5 files with the exact same ffpmeg setting then I'll get maybe _one_ accepted while the others are not. I have found that this site actually manages to accept files if they are encoded in x265, but that results in Ieji re-encoding them to x264 with a bitrate that makes it impossible to play them due to whatever rate limiting is in place when video files are sent (why is that in place?). @SolSoCoG@ieji.de is there any way to consistently have video files accepted or is this site just too broken to be worth the trouble?
