I have a rash of AI written papers in the stack I’m grading. ☹️ The assignment is a historical critical analysis of two ancient texts. Besides the not-an-undergrad writing style, the giveaway on these AI parts relative to the gospel of Mark is that all of these papers use the same three passages as examples in the same order… in ways that UG students just don’t.

Yes… in discussing “son of God” as a title in Mark, it does make sense to discuss the introduction, the baptism at the Jordan, and the Centurion’s confession at the crucifixion. But first year students just don’t pick out those three key moments and put them all in one paragraph. …much less three students in one class. Catching the AI writing is not hard kids. Dealing with the aftermath is where the pain hits the ass.
