So Trump is threatening China with denying Xi a meeting with Trump: Iran is offering them a financial windfall that would vault China past the US in the global economy.
Further, Trump's fairly obvious goal is for the US to control Iran's oil as well as Venezuela's, which would give him massive power over China's oil-import-dependent economy (and everyone else, to). Should they help him achieve that, or help Iran maintain its independence while improving their global standing?
Not a tough call, from China's POV.
