The setup for Hoppers (and Avatar before it) is so weird. We want so badly to be animal again. Yet somehow that's only available to us by giving ourselves over to the machine, so that it mediates all our sensations, creating the illusion of being fully animal. It's the opposite, people. You are already animal. You are connected with the whole, even if you have forgotten. The machine that we built will not save you. The way back is out into the wide world, not into a silicon coffin-womb.
