Phewww... After spending 12 hours reading up on mail servers and setting everything up—from TLS and Caddy to SPF, DKIM, DMARC, and the reverse DNS entry—it feels really good to be able to receive and send emails with lots of PASS entries and a verified DKIM signature in the mail header! Finally, I have my own mail server. I&#39;ve only been putting it off for a few years hehe :blobcatgiggle: #did #didit #DigitalIndepence #mailserver #SelfHosting

@lukasrotermund@social.tchncs.de Congratulations! 🥳 I do not dare to run the mail software myself, and possibly loose some emails, but I set up my domains (SPF, DKIM, DMARC). It's interesting to see, where mails do end up with BigTech and you get notified by them.

@lukasrotermund@social.tchncs.de That's the only way. Read the manuals and set it up yourself. Using off the shelf containers is no different from letting someone else handle your mail.

I have installed Debian with #Freedombox and used the web interface (called plinth) to activate postfix/dovecot and added in the DNS what it told me to. It has been working fine for two years, apart from two or three manual reboot of my rockpro64.
