Vladimir Putin used most of his call with the leaders of Finland and Norway to lecture them about medieval Slavic history, underscoring the difficulties Europe faces in asserting itself in upcoming peace talks with Russia. https://www.ft.com/content/a384acd1-c90c-4b71-bf7d-6c6e00bf9822?syn-25a6b1a6=1 #Ukraine #Russia #EU #Finland #Norway

@hanse_mina@mastodon.social It is to be expected and will not change. Putin has all the motivation in the world to gaslight European leaders. The present move is that Putin will offer oil flows and ME pacification through influence on Iran. The Gulf states are clearly trying to lean into this and will offer Trump some extra money to cushion any political fallout for MAGA from losing USA hegemon status in the Middle East. The Europeans are to be given fait accompli only and forced to pay for "peace".

@hanse_mina@mastodon.social Weakly similar to US Fox News talking heads going on (and on) about Obama’s reference to Cheesecake House (or whatever it’s called): the least relevant thing in the entire conversation. I daresay Putin was tying to stop them asking what Russian trawlers & submarines were doing loitering around undersea data cables &/or in the ‘high north’ their area). Transparent fantasist, bully & corrupting manipulator. #Russia #EUPol #RussianDelusionsOfGrandeur
