@stib I use only a handful of AUR packages and am able to review the PKGBUILD meaningfully. For users who are unable or unwilling to do so, Flatpaks and Snaps are a safer choice in my opinion, as they run sandboxed. Users should still check the sandbox permissions and guidance on their software store of choice (e.g. Gnome Software or KDE Discover) before installing an app, but that requires less expertise than inspecting a PKGBUILD.
