Some research questions around privacy in the Fediverse: - What are people's mental models for how data flows through the Fediverse? When you delete a post, is it deleted across all instances? - Do people's mental models align with actual data flows? - How can we improve privacy policies to accurately convey data flows? These questions came out of a meeting with @andresmh to discuss hci.social's privacy policy. We're sharing in case there are jr. grad students looking for privacy projects

While I imagine these questions can be answered through interviews, where participants would give explicit consent, seems like it would still be useful to think about what it means to research the Fediverse. (Am thinking of a slide deck @cfiesler posted which touched on ethics of researching Twitter, if I remember correctly.) Re conveying data flows: might be helpful to think about how contextual integrity can help strengthen explanations, or how metaphors+diagrams can help (cc @masmart)
