Hey @ieeevis authors. We are going to require accessible PDFs for VIS this year and I would like to hear whether you would prefer to do it yourself (following https://ieeevis.org/year/2023/info/call-participation/make-pdf-accessible) or whether VIS should pay a vendor to do it. This is only for camera ready papers right now. Also, comments appreciated.

    @dom @ieeevis Reducing friction is important, especially as LaTeX isn't particularly well known for its accessibility features (unless someone made a library I'm unaware of recently).

    @dom @ieeevis what would be the price? I suppose the added cost might not be free to authors?

    @dom I am highly willing to take the burden because to me it feels like my responsibility (even though it's really painful to use adobe acrobat tagging tool) unless it is mandated in the submitted version. These days I write figure descriptions as I make them to see whether my figure has good chunk of information. Yet, if requested after making a submission for a reviewer, I'd be more than willing to do it immediately.
