@Will2Power @TrevorGoodchild They literally used Saddam as a proxy to wage war against them for a decade. At no point in the last 47 years was the US not trying to subvert the Iranian regime and install a puppet, they just haven't been able to without unleashing exactly what you're seeing. And at most points in the last 47 years, trying it would've gone much worse.
