@jnow@mstdn.ca @markjcarney@bird.makeup A better question would be to ask where this data is being stored. Most likely it's on a US server, or cloud storage (there are NO Canadian ones). So as long as it's on a US server, expect any US agency to 'check' it whenever they wish to - and they don't need our permission. This is why we need Canada-based servers.

@jnow@mstdn.ca What I don’t know about this incident is whether this is Telus TELUS or Telus Digital. Telus Digital is Telus’ IT outsourcing subsidiary for other businesses. So if it’s that, it’s possible that it’s for one or more of their United Statesian customers. If it’s TELUS, then what the actual fuck! None of this is a good look for Telus… which was the lesser evil of our 4 big telecom oligopoly (still bad).
