Just revived my fucked up old laptop from when I was but a wee teen. One more piece of e-waste snatched from the gaping maw of the local dump. I'm working toward a few preparedness projects around the house, and one of the things that was giving me trouble was that my main computer is tuned for gaming and so is a real power hog. Now, with windows stripped off the old laptop, hopefully it'll be a more suitable option for loss of power scenarios. The battery appears fucked, but at least it doesn't have the draw of the desktop. So I might be able to run it off the (eventual) solar genny. And maybe I can also pick up a fresh battery for it? And if it doesn't work out, at least it cost nothing in money or resources.
