@devnull@mamot.f We'll have to disagree. Coding IS easy when compared to getting straight answers from prospective user and meeting their highly and rapidly variable demands while keeping them cognisant of security and useability. My experience may vary from yours as I started in machine language in the 70s, then assembler, then into the C variants, and so on, until I stopped doing it for a living 15 years ago. @maaikees@sw-development-is.social

@PeterLG@theblower.au My point is NOT that it's easy to get "straight answers from prospective user and meeting their highly and rapidly variable demands". My point is doing decent programming work is NOT easy either The fact is hardware and software got more complex. Software became bloated. Security and stability are overlooked. Devs piss bad code and claim to be "good at writing sotware fast" to meet employers "productivity" expectations and to satisfy their ego "I'm so smart I do thing fast". @maaikees@sw-development-is.social

@PeterLG@theblower.au I believe the word you're looking for is "easier", and not "easy". Or more precisely, "less hard". It's much *easier* to get humans to Moon and back alive then to Mars and back, but it is by no measure "easy". Also, coding is only the small (and much easier) subset of programming. And nobody who ever did it properly would disagree about the hardest part - It's always humans that are the biggest problem, in one way or another. @maaikees@sw-development-is.social
