Tip on saving money, sign up for a pharmaceutical trial so that you get paid (¥5,000) to do all the medical testing they do before to see if you're eligible for the trial, then after participating in the mandatory explanatory meeting say that you are not interested. That way you get paid to get an in-depth medical checkup instead of having to pay ¥20,000+ to do it in a normal clinic. I haven't had a checkup or blood drawn in like four years, my wife was pestering me about it.
