@dr2chase@ohai.social are write barriers the kind of thing you can catch in your front-end, or does this logic flow into the optimizer?

@agocke@hachyderm.io the optimizer knows about write barriers. They're normally guarded by a branch only taken while a GC is active, and batched as much as possible.
