MIO has joined Silksong in the column of "games that I really wish I could like more than I do." I'm really fucking sick of Metroidvanias getting choked full of "gotcha" moments that leave me feeling like the game is trying to beat me instead of challenging me to beat it. And I wish I could be more specific. Because I didn't feel this way about Hollow Knight nor Nine Sols, and Nine Sols especially is not an easy game. I'm hooked on MIO's plot. I will, eventually, finish it. Even despite knowing what bullshit awaits me. but I think after I'm done with it, this genre is going to be fucking dead to me until it gets its shit together.
