I’ve only ever set up few printers to work on linux, and they’ve been bigger office printers. And they’ve all worked with minimal effort. Absolutely no idea about home printers. Most (all?) printers and scanners released in past decade and some supports driverless printing and scanning. As long as you have printing related systems installed on your computer, most printers should be just plug and play. Especially those that are connected over network.
