Just had to patch a bug on the Tech Influence Watch Michigan House District 13 election page, stemming from Shri Thanedar reporting -$1.1 million in receipts. Why is Thanedar reporting negative receipts? He put $3.7 million of campaign funds into crypto. https://theintercept.com/2026/07/17/shri-thanedar-crypto-donavan-mckinney-michigan-aipac/

@molly0xfff@hachyderm.io "investing" and losing that much in crypto sounds something like a money laundering scheme that sunk campaign funds into crypto pump & dump schemes. My question is if Thanedar was intentionally providing liquidity for crypto holders or is he honestly that bad at picking investments.

  • @molly0xfff@hachyderm.io Damn, that's just asking to lose money. He might as well have taken that money and gone to the ccasino with it, because that is what Crypto is.

@molly0xfff@hachyderm.io His mistake was not investing larger amounts.

@molly0xfff@hachyderm.io Heh, reminds me of when we rolled at an IE7 tax, and my discounts calculating machinery didn't account for "negative discounts".
