@nolan@toot.cafe The web is fantastic when it creates elegant new connections between different systems, sands down sharp corners on existing APIs, or enables completely new control of something I couldn't do before (e.g. Web XR).
Adding high level "user space" stuff just feels like so much misplaced effort in my opinion.

@peterreeves@mstdn.social There is some good stuff, like that shadow DOM "explains" parts of the web platform like and details/summary. And declarative shadow DOM can be used to build high-perf out-of-order rendering similar to Facebook's BigPipe. But overall yeah the fact that shadow DOM shipped without accessibility support for ten years does not reflect well on it.
