Well, I bit the bullet and did an in-place upgrade to Zorin 18 on my gaming PC. I fully expected it to go sideways, and I had a USB key ready to do a clean install and restore from backup. But ... it just worked. The upgrader did disable a couple of third party repos (for perfectly good reasons), but adding them back was the work of a moment. I'm genuinely impressed.
